The Truth Is Back!

\"\"My original intent upon starting this blog was to give outsiders a look into my efforts at starting an running an indie label. Note that this is not the first label I started. I\’ve launched an run 2 record labels before this (Mad Street Records, Hoodgrown Records) with varying degree of success, the most monetary successful being Mad Street Records. With Universal Indie my intentions are to release the kind of quality music that I grew up on. The kind where lyrics and hard hitting beats are at the forefront as opposed to the inane club chanting, dope man, dance type crap that is the so prevalent today.

While it\’s totally hard to be 100% honest with total strangers that\’s the goal i\’ve set with this blog and anything less would be a disservice to the people following my efforts. With that said, let me fill you on the REAL reason my latest album, Cartel – Tha Throwback hasn\’t been released yet, I\’m broke. Lol. Yes it\’s that simple. Well not really broke… but with a mortgage, two car payments, kids, etc, I just didn\’t have the money to pay for the mastering of the album. You may have even noticed that the Universal Indie site was down for two weeks while I discontinued paying $179 a month for a dedicated server and went back to shared hosting in an effort to cut down on my monthly expenses.

But as you can see I\’m back with a site redesign (www.universalindie.com) and a new commitment to updating my blog and pushing the releases on Universal Indie. \”Tha Throwback\” will go to mastering next week and will hopefully be available for download by Nov. 1st.

In the meantime, if you love lyrics and beats… download that Schmagilla Incident by Scholarly Pursuits. I\’m sure you\’ll enjoy it.
