When you think of hip hop you think of diversity and messages. You also think of a formula for success- beats, rhymes, swag, shawmanship and overall confidence in your product. One new group on the rise from atlanta has all that rolled up into one movement, reader…meet Embassy from Atlanta. This 4 man group has what it takes to roc the mic right, from their stage show to their lyrical content, their TRL like swag to their hypnotic hooks, Embassy is on their way and you cant stop them.
Embassy, what’s goin on? Tell us about the movement.
Everything’s moving well…..First and foremost the music is the main focus of our movement, there is so much more we’ve set out to accomplish, but there’s “a right time” for everything and right now…the music has that time slot occupied. We’re constantly building a stronger fan base, not just in our region, but worldwide.
How and when did you guys meet and decide to do the group thing?
WOW!!, that’s a long story, let us try to sum it up for you.(LOL). It officially happened in 2001, Manolo and Big A are blood brothers, we all attended the same high school. We all shared the same love and interest for music, Big A managed to pull Baby D.O.E and K.O. in up under one roof and we became what you know now as “The Embassy”.
The success of group acts in hip hop has been challenging, how do you guys keep each other level headed while growing as an overall group?
Honestly…..Arguing!….(LOL)…..not in a fighting sense but by handling each conflict openly.Meaning, that we will introduce a situation, such as a song title, the four of us will give our opinions and state our arguments, just like a court case; state your argument, plead your case, sort out the differences, and just as a jury, come to a final agreement that we feel will best suit the group. It’s a process that keeps us leveled and on the same page, plus it broadens our visions because each one of us have our own ideas for everything we do, and when we get to “spilling out” our ideas into a pot and stirring it up, we always create something innovative.
So you guys are from the dirty but have a very non regional feel to music meaning I can hear it across the country, that’s not easy, what’s the recipe for your success musically?
The recipe is to be original!….We don’t consider ourselves a southern act, honestly, we don’t categorize ourselves as anything. We all have different cultural backgrounds. Baby D.O.E is Jamaican, Big A and Manolo are Panamanian and K.O. is American. So it’s like an International dish!….The table has been set, so now we shall serve the fans that good meal they have been waiting for!(LOL)
Who are some of the influences throughout your come up that have helped mold the image and driven you guys to the place your headed towards now?
Everyone plays a part in influencing us, rather it being positive or negative. Here’s our whole take on life..(This is Embassy’s Mission Statement)….”Everyone’s Success Is A Mistake, Because There Is Opportunity To Do Better!”……and The Embassy hears opportunity knocking!(LOL)
What’s Embassy’s end result? Where do you see the movement going aside from music?
There is no ending, anything you can think of, we are striving to accomplish. That thing we hear knocking, you know, “OPPORTUNITY”……has NO LIMIT!!
What’s the biggest misconception about the music industry that you have come to realize?
This one is easy!….The biggest misconception about the music industry would have to be that just having good music will get you signed!
Any current cds the public should know about? Shows? Features? Spill it fellas!
We’re always performing at clubs all over Atlanta. We are planning a small city to city tour right now, we also have the My Space page, You Tube videos, and up-and-coming mixtapes that will be hitting the streets real soon. You can expect to see us in a few magazine interviews, DVD’s and etc….in the immediate future. If you visit the My Space page and stay up-to-date with it, you will stay up-to-date with us.We personally check the page ourselves!
That’s what it is, shout out your myspace and or website.
