Taking A “L”: Thank You Mr. Knight for Being Human.

\"new-khalil\"Sorry for the long delay between blogs. Unlike my blogging cohort Mr. DeNegro, who puts out a blog once every two months, because he keeps getting caught up in “street shyt” (dumb fuck!), I was dealing with some family shyt, but I’m back on task!

I hate to toot my own hip-hop horn, but my haterz just won’t leave well enough alone! To my homophobic readers who think no one is hearing me speak on this gay hip-hop shyt, check out the March issue of Spin Magazine? There’s a story in there about gay rappers and their quest for mainstream acceptance. And of course, they feature yours truly, Khalil Amani. First the LA Times, then Spin Magazine. Don’t cha think that’s pretty good for a nobody like me?

\"mail1\"

Spin Magazine has a larger distribution than Vibe, XXL, or The Source! I guess it’s all downhill from here when I’m featured in the Negro magazines—and I assure you its coming! And guess what else? One of the biggest DJs in the world is talking to me about a feature in his magazine! Now think on that hater! Lol! Nuff said.

Is it me or do hip-hop heads take great satisfaction in reading that Suge Knight got his ass beat… again? I guess nobody really likes a bully!

Rap beef has moved from lyrical smack-downs to Internet comedy sketches—to threatening the lives of rappers’ loved ones.

There’s gotta be an art to taking a loss—a physical beat-down in the public eye—a lyrical lashing on wax—or a cartoon caricature of your past employment! Rick Ross raps, “I never took a loss. I might’ve took a loss, but it wasn’t like that!” As character assassination goes, Rick Ross is getting stomped the fuck out by 50 Cent and his alter-ego Pimpin’ Curly. The best he can do is call Fiddy a “mon-keeeeey.” But I must say—I do like Ross’s fight. Ross is no Ja Rule! And no matter the past correctional officer allegations, Ross is still keepin’ it gangsta and gutter and I don’t see (or hear) of any rapper confronting him to his face about being a pseudo-pig. I’m gonna go on record and say that Deeper Than Rap will outsell Before I Self-destruct. Any bets?

Some might think that the “South’s demise is at hand.” If we judge the 50-Ross beef on lyrical content, then the South is still putting foot all up in Northern ass! By far, Officer Rawss is a better lyricist than 50 and his diss records and swagger is greater than 50 Cent’s. So where’s the “proof” that the North is on the rise—some fuckin’ cartoons? 50 Cent single-handedly killed New York hip-hop by dissing his Northern rap counterparts!

How do these rappers take a beat-down (lyrical/physical/caricature) and still show their faces in public? (Did anyone see this rapper named Tubesteak on Worldstarhiphop get the shit punched out of him—while he was threateningly rapping about how he was gonna punch his rapping foe in the face? And then the nigga has the nerve to make another video denying he got waxed—and then had the nerve to take off his shades to prove that his face was not marred. But, indeed, home-dude had a black eye! Lol!) There’s gotta be an art form to taking an asswhipping and then showing your face in public! Where’s the shame?

And so now, the vulnerable and all-too-human Suge Knight got his ass beat again. Any man (Chris Brown) that beats a woman (Rihanna) needs to have his ass beat at every turn! Every time that nigga performs, cats need to rush the stage and test his knuckle-game! I have ZERO TOLERANCE for men hitting women. And Suge Knight has put his hands on a few women over the years! There is simply no excuse for a man to hit a woman! (Other than if she’s coming at you with a butcher’s knife—that’s called self-defense!)

(*Growing up, I saw my dad put foot in my mother’s ass on the regular, so I ain’t tryna hear all that bullshit about “women provoking men to anger!” Only bitch-made men hit women and that includes my bitch-made dad, all pimps and bitch-made rappers like Gucci Mane! If I had my way, I’d banished all women-beaters to a deserted island where six-foot Amazonian women sporting pointed-toe Gucci stilettos would take turns kicking these men in the biscuits (nuts), while tied to trees!)

What makes the Suge Knight ass-kicking saga so interesting is that it has a mythological element—“good vs. evil,” “David & Goliath,” “Karma is a bitch,”—Ice Cube’s movie Friday—Suge as an archetypal Debo.

Fact is—Suge Knight has not been media-friendly. He goes out of his way to portray that he is a bad-ass—a cigar-smoking, loc-wearing wannabe gangster who ruled over his evil empire with a rod of iron.

Suge Knight is like that “Image of Gold” spoken about in the book of Daniel (in yo’ Bible), which his Death Row followers worshipped. Oh, but God (or Karma) came a-knockin’! “MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN” (meaning: “God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it [your record company]. You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting [your hoe-card has been pulled & your gangster, checked and it is not thorough!]. Your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians [your record company is on the auction block to the highest bidder]).” (Daniel 5:25-28)

Suge Knight’s beating proves that you might be a “Goliath” in your ‘hood, but walk around the corner and there’s a badder s.o.b. waiting to test your chin—there’s a tougher thug waiting to build his street cred at your expense!

Suge Knight, Mike Tyson, Kimbo Slice—all these guys had their turn at being the baddest mofos on the block, but history, mythology and common sense assures us that their reign as a bully is but for a season. Sugar, getting his ass beat… twice? Thank you Mr. Knight for being human!
