T-Pain is an entertainer in-tune with mainstream audiences, regardless of what Jay-Z thinks of his auto-tuning ways. But T-Pain’s savvy spreads beyond songwriting, producing, and outlandish apparel – it also includes some very smart technological alliances.
Smule brilliantly teamed with T-Pain to create a best-selling, auto-tuning iPhone app, though another tie-up is also worth watching. On Monday, the rapper-producer partnered with Indaba Music to create a remix contest around his latest single, “Take Your Shirt Off”.
Stems for the track are already available on indabamusic.com, and the Indaba community of 35,000 is being invited create and submit remixes. The first-place winner will receive $500, a platinum Indaba Music membership, and spins of the remix on Pain’s website and MySpace Music page. “All throughout my career I have worked to stay ahead of the pack,” T-Pain relayed. “Indaba Music and I have that in common – they’re innovators, too.”
“Take Your Shirt Off” is the debut single from RevolveЯ, slated for release in the spring of next year.
