Brooklyn-bred emcee T-Eazy is blessed with some of that old school 90s flow and that new millennium swag. Also known as the 7-1-8 Kid, he is determined to make his ascension to the ranks of the borough’s rap legends. His immense talent and confidence emanates through his music.
Recently cited as an Independent Threat by Rap Fanatic magazine, T-Eazy has been simmering on New York’s underground. He has organized events to provide fans and industry suits alike a platform to listen and watch him perform. Eazy’s new single “Yankee Fitted” is slowly but surely making its rounds through the NYC as well as the Internet and with a new year here the Crown Heights product is elevating his horizons.
The 7-1-8-Kid makes says he makes music everyone can vibe to: something for playas and hustlers; something for ladies and clubs; and of course lyrics with substance. Brooklyn is known for heavy-hitting emcees and Eazy is promising to follow in that pedigree. He spoke to Hood Grown and let us knows about himself and music, his upcoming performance in Brooklyn and his debut independent album We da Future is da Slogan. We introduce T-Eazy.
T-Eazy what’s going on, where are you from and what clique do you rep?
I’m reppin’ that new movement and that new wave NG, which stands for Next Generation and we on that Brooklyn bullshit.
What artists have influenced your music?
Most definitely the Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z made me fall in love with Hip-Hop to the point where I wanted to become an emcee myself. Independent and unsigned artists keep me into Hip-Hop and keep me motivated to continue creating music. The artists I surround myself with also keep me motivated Notes, Dappa Don, Dotsilly, Show Money, Zone Banga.
Now you’ve been simmering on New York’s underground scene since early Spring and I know you have some things lined up for the top of the new year. Tell us about this event you have coming up on January 16 in Brooklyn.
On Friday, Jan. 16th them NG boys will be partying at Evolution Nite Club in Brooklyn. All I can say is it’s going to be a movie something real special nah mean nah mean so Come out and party with us.
I know you plan on releasing your debut album via NG Records this year. What is it called?
Yeah, the debut album is titled We da Future Is da Slogan. It’s coming out on NG Records and will be available on iTunes when it drops.
Why did you give it that title?
I named it We da Future Is da Slogan because that’s the God honest truth when it comes to NG – were the Next Generation. We’re young, talented individuals on this side and our time is coming real soon. All the artists from my generation are the future of this rap game. The emcees that came before us did their due for this game already. It’s time to let the new kids on the block have their time to shine.
You have already released the first single off We da Future is da Slogan called “Yankee Fitted,” which has been bubbling on the Internet.
Yeah, we got the single “Yankee Fitted” heating up the scene right now. That’s the first single off the album We da Future Is da Slogan. It’s the official New York City anthem. Look out for the video coming soon.
What else can Hip-Hop fans expect to hear?
Fans can expect to hear what T-Eazy always brings to the table and that’s official, good quality music from start to finish. I got nothing but heat on the album. I got some new flavor for the kids to enjoy, some new flavor for the ladies to enjoy, and of course some new flavor for my hustlers and Hip-Hop lyricists to enjoy – a little something for everybody nah mean.
