Russell Young is a new Rap/Hip-Hop artist hailing from a small town in Virginia, USA called “Waynesboro”. After only taking his music career seriously for 1 year he was nominated the best “Underground Rapper/Singer” in the south at the “Underground Music Awards Show” in Manhattan New York last summer 2008. In 2008 Russell Young traveled up and down the southeast region performing at clubs, fashion shows, coffee houses, and open mics showcasing his skills as well as giving away promotional cd’s in hopes of building his buzz.
Today Russell Young has over 2 million myspace plays and almost 20,000 friends. He is releasing his 1st single “My Life” off his highly anticipated album “FINALLY” which is due to drop in the fall of 2009. In His 1st single “My Life” Russell Young talks about how he is free to do what he wants to do or say what he wants to say, for example he quotes in the 3rd verse of “My Life” “UM THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND I AIN’T AFRAID TO SAY IT”, IF I DON’T PUT MYSELF IN THE NUMBER 1 SPOT THAN HOW UM GOIN MAKE IT”. Also in this amazing track he sends a shot at 3 of the most prominent rappers in the game today “JAY-Z”, “LIL WAYNE”, AND “KANYE WEST” by letting them know that he is not intimidated by no artist in the industry and rest assure he is coming for the thrown! The track is produced by Houston, Texas producer “Jus Fresh”. When you hear this beat it reminds you of a track that major rap artist “Young Jeezy” would use, but “Russell Young” holds his own by adding his own flavor and style to it which is reminiscent of a mix of “Jay-Z, Kanye West, layed back delivery of a “Ricky Ross” and “T-Pain like” sing a long hooks draped over a hard hitting southern beat.
