Purpose (of Tragic Allies)

Hailing from the crime-ridden streets of Lynn, Massachusetts a/k/a, the “City of Sin”, Purpose witnessed his 3 older fall victim to revolving door justice. The same streets that were once the stomping ground to his brothers’ deliquency would now be the same environment that would influence a young Purpose to hip-hop culture. Purpose became entrenched into a new world that would occupy his time by analyzing the lyrics to his favorite rappers’ songs, while simultaneously studying the layers and textures that would comprise the production. Before long, Purpose went from listening and studying hip-hop, to becoming an active participant in the culture by penning his own rhymes and programming his own beats.

In 2008, prior to recording his debut mixtape,The Soul Purpose , Purpose would establish a crew of producers & DJs, under the moniker Tragic Allies Productions. Shortly thereafter, purpose would land his first official production credits on Big Shug’s, The Other Side Of The Game LP. This placement was quickly followed by having his production talents featured on the Wu-Tang affiliate supergroup Almighty’s LP, Original S.I.N. Purpose proved that he was worthly of holding his own alongside producers that he grew up admiring, such as DJ Premier, Bronze Nazareth and Moss, among others. Currently, Purpose and the Tragic Allies are working with other noteworthy artists on tracks for future projects…stay tuned!!
