Whenever a rapper says something that can be interpreted as “gay” they come out of their mouths with the stupid saying “no homo.” Examples? “His ass is mine! No homo! Hey man, pass me the nuts. No homo!” Why would any man even think another man is making a homosexual reference towards him when the context in which he speaks does not dictate such interpretation and extrapolation? What it really says is, “I think this mofo is a dumb-ass who might have homosexual tendencies, so I better clarify that the ‘nuts’ I want are from Planters!”
Bloggers like Byron Crawford (Bol) have created naughty little clichés’ like “Teh Ghey” and “fruit” to reference gay people. These cats are so self-absorbed and haughty that they don’t realize how hurtful their words are to gay and lesbian hip-hop heads, who are fans of the rap genre, but must endure the disses and slights on their sexuality for the sake of literary/artistic expression—funny motherfuckers! Ha-ha-hee-hee! They put “shock value” and “Internet hits” before humanity. They stand in a place like they themselves will never have a gay or lesbian child! Oh, how ironic would that be Mr. Crawford? And if they get serious about homosexuality they will recite the Jerry Springer/nursery rhyme inspired cliché, “God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!,” as though they’ve been to some theological seminary and have an excellent command of biblical scripture! No wonder America is phucked up! This is the kind of freethinking society we live in.
By using these demeaning terms (ghey & fruit, no homo) the homophobe can distance himself from speculation about his own sexuality. And then there’s (Bone) Intel, Sonny Lewis, El-Don, Prince, Cat-Eyez, Foxxjazell, Tim’m West, Tori Fixx, Pam Jones, Delacruz, Yo Majesty, and many, many more gay/lesbian artists whose lyrical prowess is as great as anything we’ve heard in the mainstream.

Have you ever asked yourself why is it that discrimination against homosexuals is the last form of ACCEPTABLE discrimination in this country and abroad? Or did it never cross your mind to even think about it? Something else those of you STRAIGHT people with kids probably never asked yourself- what would you do if your son or daughter came home and told you they were gay? See homosexuality crosses ALL gender lines, nationalities, ages, and even professions. Look at how many elected officials in powerful positions are gay-but why is that a scandal? You say it is because they deceived the public by not broadcasting their sexuality at the time they ran for office? Blasphemy! The Civil Rights Movement didn’t become a Movement until white Americans listened to the cries of black Americans and JOINED our struggle, fighting WITH us to make changes. White people went to other white people and for the sake of humanity said that things had to change and they didn’t back down until changes were made, and that is what people like Khalil Amani, myself and so many others are doing when it comes to equal rights and fair treatment of homosexuals.
