With 2 new mixtapes in the works, a single gaining some serious buzz and a stage presence that would make the hardest ice grills melt, Jo Blak is one hos way to making his own movies.

\"\"What’s been going on Jo Black? Introduce yourself to the readers real quick?

Just Out here trying to create a buzz for myself, getting out that good music that the people Love that all. Doing my usual things working, hustling, and doing the music that I love. I’m Originally from Flatbush, Brooklyn but I stay in Jersey now, I’m one of the newest mc out of the tristate area right now!!!!

When did you first know hip hop was for you?

I knew Hip Hop was for me while I was listening to the Nas “It was Written” Album his lyrical ability inspired me to write freestyle to black girl lost instrumental that was on the LP. I went to school and spit the freestyle for my homies and everybody thought it was crazy. Especially that the freestyle was my first. At that moment I knew Hip Hop was for me.

How did you link up and form Prime Faculty?

While I was attending school, I was introduced to another mc that wanted to form a group with me. We were invited to a college radio station that didn’t want to announce us individually. So I Thought of the name and the rest will soon become history.

Currently you have your new single out “ Bad Feeling”, what’s the feedback like for that track?

The feedback for that record is very positive. People are becoming attached to my lyrical ability and I’m grateful for that. I was never really interested in pushing the record but it started buzzing so we ran with it. The single everyone should be looking for now thoug is “80’s Baby” Produced by Synthesis. It’s gonna be the feel good record of 2010!!!!

Growing up who were some of your influences to rap?

Being from Brooklyn, of course Jay and Big but also, listen to Duck Down Records definitely played a role in my beginnings. Heltah Skeltah, O.G.C., Smif N Wessun, and Buckshot. Them dudes represented Brooklyn like it was supposed to be represented!!!!

Who do you see yourself working with in the future?

Ummm, right now I’m more interested in working with underground artists, because they identify more with the pure form of Hip Hop. With that being said, I would like to work with Skyzoo, Fashawn, Blu, Jay Electronica, and before my career is over I got to get in the booth with Scarface. That’s A Must!!!!!!

What do you consider to be one of your first breakthroughs in the game?

I don’t really have a breakthrough in Hip Hop yet. I feel like not enough people know who I am and I haven’t got the respect that I need in order to make a breakthrough. I’m close to it, after my next mixtape, I should be able to answer this question better for you.

What do you have in store for 2010?

I got two mixtapes coming out back to back. The first one is going to be called “Undivided Attention: The Bronze Nazareth Edition.” All raw street music but with substance all the production are done by Bronze Nazareth. I’m portraying life over his interpretation of music, trying to make something powerful. My second mixtape is more like an album to me but being as tho there’s no distribution, and the production has not been made exclusively to me, I still consider this a mixtape. My approach to this one is like a album tho. The title of the project is “The Transititon” it’s a representation of the boy in the hood that turns his negative past into a positive future. I don’t think there’s too many mc’s that try to glorify the good that can come out of a bad situation. They always try to make it out like everybody in the ghetto represents a ignorant way of living. This mixtape intends on showing the fans that that bullshit!!!!! So you prepare for it!!!!
