Jermiside and Danny Diggs – Middle Classic (Album Review)
The album Middle Classic released by well-known underground rapper Jermiside & phenomenal beat maker Danny Diggs isn’t for everyone…it will only appeal to hip-hop afficionados with great taste! Rap and soul music have never gone so well together. It is fair to say that Jermiside & Danny Diggs have found the winning combination that will have everyone in the house blasting their tunes. Today’s hip-hop lovers will respect Jermiside’s honest lyrics and smooth delivery while older generations won’t be able to help but bob their heads to music that will remind them of the good old days.
The first track on Middle Classic, “Inception,” has a family reunion vibe to it. The third track “We Here” will inspire you to keep doing what you know you need to do, and the music is so soulful it could have come from Earth, Wind, and Fire. Notorious BIG fans should love the song “Maintainin,”and “Didn’t I Tell You” is a good track to play for all the haters in your life. The album Middle Classic has a lot of swag, and it offers tunes that most people can relate to. “Still With Me” is a heart-felt story about losing someone you love, and “Afraid” touches on many different types of fears from criminals out to get us and the government spying on us, to being afraid that we’ll never reach our full potential. If you like intelligent rappers, you will quickly become fans of Jermiside & Danny Diggs. I love the song on Middle Classic called “Respect”because it reminds us that there is no shame in showing love for your family and friends. We definitely need more positive rap on the radio today.
In general, the album Middle Classic along with the track by the same name is about life from the perspective of a fella (Jermiside) who grew up black, middle-class, and hungry for hip-hop. Under Jermiside’s smooth lyrics, you’ll hear Danny Diggs’s traditional soul, modern jazz, and classic hip-hip beats. This album offers you the best of both worlds because if you want to dance, you will definitely be able to get your party on while listening to Middle Classic, but if your mind just wants to float away to a stress-free place, Middle Classic will take you there too. This is a “feel good” album with very few four letter words that is perfect to play anytime, anywhere, and around almost anybody.
