Everliven Sound – Freedom II (Album Review)
The hip-hop don’t stop on the new eighteen track album Freedom II by Cymarshall Law & Skit Slam a.k.a. Everliven Sound. With so many great tracks to listen to, you’ll get your monies worth and then some. Each song has its own unique personality, yet they flow together so nicely you’ll be able to listen to Freedom II from beginning to end over and over and over again.
You will not be able to sit still when the first track “Get Up Stand Up” comes on. It is definitely a party starter. In fact, it will be a while before you’ll be able to leave the dance floor. The second track “Christening” doesn’t disappoint, and the third track “Elements” will have the crowd going crazy with its wicked beats and lyrical tributes to hip-hop legends. If you really know hip-hop, you’ll pick up a hint of KRS 1′s “My Philosophy.”
Considering the fact that there are eighteen tracks on Freedom II, I’ll admit that there are three or four cuts I could do without, and I’m sure you’ll feel that way too, but this album is definitely a winner. I absolutely love the track “Don’t Believe.” Everliven Sound really calls out the media on this one with lyrics like “I don’t believe everything that you write – messing with ya’ll one day Dr. King will be white,” and “They’ll use fear to get in your ear…don’t believe everything you hear.” Complimenting the dope lyrics is an amazing melody. Cymarshall Law & Skit Slam really did their thing on Freedom II. The song “Can You Relate” is their story, but it could easily be my story or your story. You gotta hear this one for yourself. Freedom II is a great album for hip-hop lovers. The last track “Know No” is just as good as the first track. In fact, it is one of my favorites. “Know No” has a nice flow, and it will get you out of your seat.
If you like your hip-hop and R&B with a little ‘island flava’, you’ll enjoy Cymarshall Law & Skit Slam’s new album Freedom II. Something about their style reminds me of Nas’s “If I Ruled The World,” and we all know what a big hit that was. There are too many great songs on Freedom II to buy each track you’ll like, so just download the album, get your peeps together, and be prepared to party when you hear “Get Up Stand Up!”
