Eternia: Eternia For Eternity!

It’s “Ladies First” in hip hop again now that Eternia is on the scene! That’s all I have to say. If you don’t know, it’s time to get skooled! She is obviously female, and I could add that she is Canadian, but all you really need to know is that Eternia is a “dope emcee” who is too talented to be labeled or put into a box. She writes all her own rhymes, and she has lots of N.Y. flava. With hits like “Foul Child,”

\"\"“It’s Time,” and “Home” it is clear that Eternia is a lyrical force to be reckoned with. Did I mention “Nowhere No More”? If you’ve slept on Eternia, “WAKE UP!” Scratch of The Roots, KRS-ONE, Rah Digga, Common, and Roxanne Shante are just a few of hip hop’s elite who support Eternia.

Eternia’s success is no accident. She’s been rhymin on the playground since the age of eight. She’s been on her own since the age of fifteen, so as you could imagine, she has been through her share of ups and downs. Her real life experiences are what make her so relatable. Back in the day, Eternia listened to greats like Nas, Notorious BIG, Queen Latifah, Salt N Pepa, LL Cool J, and Organized Konfusion. When you listen to Eternia, you may hear Lauryn Hill’s influence as well. Today, Eternia respects such artists as Invincible, Reef the Lost Cauze, and Blu. Eternia says, “I admire people who have integrity, live honestly, and aren’t afraid to be vulnerable on tracks.” If you feel the same way and respect rappers for their skills regardless of their sex, you’ll be glad to know that Eternia created a “My Favorite Rapper Wears a Skirt” t-shirt in part to let people know that female rappers are still representing hip hop with the best of their male counterparts. Brothas respect Eternia because she is genuine. She spits from the heart. Sistas love her because she understands what women go through.

The rapper Eternia, whose birth name is Silk, is an independent, down to earth taurus who enjoys going to church, cooking for friends, reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family. When asked what usually happens when she meets her fans, Eternia replied, “I often get told, “your music helps me get through my day” or something like, “I play your music in the morning to motivate me” or “it lifts me up when I’m feeling down”. A lot of women who have been in… difficult relationships… tell me its like I stole their life story and put it in song form. I am humbled by all this feedback. It makes me feel like we’re family – my listeners and I. And we are.

Some people say Eternia has that “special something” that hip hop has been missing lately. Maybe it’s her authenticity. If you see her on stage, you’ll never forget her. She is an outstanding performer. If you’d love to see Eternia live, encourage your city’s local promoters to book her while they still can. Once you cop her latest CD “At Last” I’m sure you’ll agree that Eternia’s flame is HOT, HOT, HOT!
