DL

\"dl-m\"\”Only the strong survive\” is a phrase often used by many but can only be attributed to a few. DL is one of the few. Born and raised in the Southeast section of Queens, New York, it wasn\’t long before DL was introduced to the struggle of the street game. Initially he found false salvation in the streets, but the hustle, run-ins with the law and the loss of close friends was taking a toll on this seasoned hustler. Believing that \”only strength can carry you through\” was his mantra that led him out of harms way and into what was in his heart all along, music. Growing up he listened to LL Cool J and Run DMC and the hip hop movement began to influence this then young, impressionable youth, as an artist. While time progressed, DL honed-in on his craft and began his evolution into a MC that was soon to be \”reckoned with\”.

DL continues to create a name for himself in this industry as a talented MC that talks the talk, but more importantly, walks the walk. Having released several successful mixtapes has allowed for his fan base to grow worldwide and has given him the opportunity to have them hosted by some of today\’s best renowned DJ\’s. With the success of the Billboard Magazine Hip-hop chart-topping single \”Bossman\”, DL has been able to generate huge street-buzz with people wondering who is this MC that sounds like LL Cool J. \”It\’s funny and interesting to me when people say that as it\’s a natural flow and I grew up being a huge LL fan, not to mention that we are both from Queens. It\’s that Queens milk\”, he laughs. \”Bossman\”, managed to spend 15 weeks on the charts.

In 1999, DL, along with his childhood friend John \”J Wall\” Wallace, decided to launch Triplebeam Entertainment. An entity that serves as a Record Label, Film & Television Production Company and serves as the home of R & B Songstress Mona Lisa and Hip hop artist \”Chainsmoka\”. DL is presently adding final touches to the soon to be released Motion Picture \”King of Paper Chasin\”, in which he stars and Executive Produces. \”K.O.P.C\”, is a crime-drama based loosely on DL\’s life that centers around the music industry and the underworld of New York City filled of deception, betrayal, sex and greed.

As DL continues to make a mark in the entertainment industry, he is preparing for the release of another installment in his mixtape collection and build the buzz and anticipation to his debut album also titled, \”King of Paper Chasin\”, in stores August 25, 2009. \”K.O.P.C\” – The album will be released under the imprint of Triplebeam Entertainment and lead by the club banger \”Throw it on Me\”, produced by Skem. In addition, the project will include the street single \”Fresh\”, produced by Platinum producer Jimi Kendrix (Jay Z, 50 Cent, R. Kelly). The album will also include collaborations with Triplebeam labelmates Mona Lisa, Chainsmoka and a few surprise guests.

The sky is the limit for where DL\’s destiny will take him, but one thing he knows for sure is that \”A winner can\’t lose\”. \”I live by that quote day to day as it fuels me to keep on going when the going gets rough,\” he adds. DL is motivated community member by involving himself in the Positive Direction Organization. Positive Direction provides kids with academic scholarships, mentorship opportunities and a basketball program. Kids are given the opportunity to travel across the country to compete in basketball tournaments.

In today\’s entertainment industry you may find many that live by flossing cars, money and jewelry, but in DL\’s world you will find a focused, determined and consistent man, that is ready to share his god-given talents.
