Riding the wave of the new wave of music coming from the farthest state south and probably the sexiest city in the US hails a fresh new hip hop band City Of God from Miami. 5 Guys and a Girl make up this innovative new musical collaboration but they move like one. Armed with a new single ‘Fly Away’ , a unique style and approach to their music, City Of God is breaking new boundaries and creating new trends so definitely follow along.

Hey City Of God, let everyone know where you’re from and give them some background on your movement?

Hello World!!! We’re City of God from the MI-YA-YO. You can say we’re a live hip hop/pop/R&b/Every other genre out there except country type of band…(no offense). We’re made up of 6 different individuals that have the same vision to create good music… Really the movement that we are pushing is that, The music industry is in a tough state and we want to be that breathe of fresh air…aka the music’s stimulus package (haha). But we want to touch people with our music, touch the world and sometimes that reflects on the type of people we are and not only what we do on stage.

How did you guys get started in this music industry?

This is always a tough one to answer because it is sort of a long story, Our True Hollywood story is coming out in 2011… Just kidding. But we all started in music very young, but in our own ways. Danny and Stephanie come from a family that was always deep into music and church, Like we swear our Grandma released a mixtape back in the day!!! (haha) …FOR REAL!!! I (Danny, vocals) started off as a dj for a rap group and Tiago (Dj & Synthesizer) taught me how to spin!!! We go way back and I mean the aspect of the band, It was kind of fate, because it was all put together like a puzzle. We all knew each other from shows and different people but never imagined that we would do music together. But when it happened it was destiny! We’ve created a bond like family…We love each other… (Tear ☺ hahaha)

Stephanie, how is it being the only girl in the group surrounded by five guys?

Honestly…I feel great surrounded by that many guys!!! LOL..Well I do have to say that they are like family. We have all become very close and we have a lot of fun together not to mention I feel very protected even though I could beat Danny up! LOL It’s great too because I also make the group look good!…don’t hate guys!

Describe the City of God sound. Who has inspired you musically to influence your style and creative approach?

We have a unique sound and we take pride in that. As a 6 member group we have a VARIETY of different influences ranging from hip-hop such as your Jay-z’s and Kanye’s to Pop such as Fall Out boy and many more… When we actually sit down to create a new song, we don’t create thinking if it sounds like what’s hot right now, We create the style of music that we have grown to love and appreciate which is GOOD music, Real music. Believe a lot of sweat, long hours and hard work goes into creating our songs and we strive for perfection. At the end of the day that’s what we do, and we hope our music come across like that.

As a group, what are your music career goals? In the next 3 years where do see City of God?

Our main career goal, is to achieve excellence, to be the inspiration to others, to be the best in what we do. Three years from now, WOW… City of God will definitely be at the top of the charts!!! And this movement will be everywhere.

‘Fly Away’ and ‘Dance Girl’ are two of the records your currently promoting and performing, explain the concept of the songs and the feedback you have received thus far?

That’s an easy one… “Dance Girl” is just that super fun song we get amped up performing. It has such a hard bass line that sounds real good live! Not to mention the Guitar is sick! (Shout out to Gunnar)… “Fly Away” is our radio single that we have been pushing now. It has that laid back shill type of vibe that’s just perfect when its cold outside and you just taking it slow. “Fly Away” has been doing really well in many markets and online… We are hoping to soon to break some really large markets with this record. Everybody loves the song and we are pushing!

What are some of the challenges you guys have faced together as a group?

Some the challenges we have faced as a group would probably be to just all get on the same page at the same time. That’s because its 6 of us and we all have separate lives. We all had to learn how to change our priorities to what was important (Always keeping God first). Since we have become closer we also have faced challenges in our character…Which we believe to be a good thing! When you are in a band it’s not about you only but it’s about all of us as one. And we all had to learn that and we will always keep remember this.

So what’s next on the agenda for City Of God?

The next step for City of God is to get back into the studio and to keep creating good music! More hits are sure to come soon.
