Cimer Amor: Taking Nowhere, Somewhere (Album Review)
Well-known underground hip-hop super producer Cimer Amor is going to re-define what we expect of hip-hop with the release of his new album Taking Nowhere, Somewhere June 29, 2010. This album contains fourteen tracks with hard-core beats and raw lyrics. These cuts are truly from the streets and for the streets (and the clubs). When you download this album, I recommend that you listen to the last track, “Chose Me,” first so you’ll know that you won’t be disappointed when you get to the end.
Taking Nowhere, Somewhere contains some of the best MUSIC ever created. The first track, “Step Aside,” features Jakk Frost, Side Effect, Baby Blak, and Daniela Romeo rhyming over classic rock, R&B, and hip-hop beats. The quality of the music on the album should not be taken for granted. Believe me when I say that the fifth track, “Tremble,” is truly hypnotic. You could almost say it’s addicting, but don’t sleep on the next track, “Insomnia,” because “…everything ain’t what it seems…” When you hear “Only the Best” and “What It Is,” you won’t believe how well string instruments and horns work with the beats and lyrics. Taking Nowhere, Somewhere could win a Grammy for Best Instrumentals on a Hip-Hop Album if there were such a thing.
When I listen to Taking Nowhere, Somewhere, I hear the influences of hip-hop legends Rakim, Notorious BIG, Eminem, Wu Tang, Slick Rick, G-Unit, and Outkast to name a few. Cimer Amor is to be commended for bringing together artists including Caen Project, Poynt Blanc, Product, Relik, and Jay Love because these brothas understand where hip-hop came from and what it was and is meant to be. It can be argued that the artists on Taking Nowhere, Somewhere have out performed many of the top selling hip-hop artists out today!
If you love hip-hop that is pure, honest, and unapologetic, you’ll download Cimer Amor’s incredible album Taking Nowhere, Somewhere on June 29th. If your dance crew is looking for some hot beats for your next routine, you’ll download Taking Nowhere, Somewhere on June 29th. If you want to chill with your partners or just zone out to some really good music, you’ll download Taking Nowhere, Somewhere on June 29th. This is one of those rare albums where every track will keep your head boppin and the clubs poppin.
