I am officially announcing in 2009 that the video model/stripper is Hip-Hop’s “5th Element!” Move over MC, DJ, graffiti artist, and break-dancer! It’s recognition time!

I’m sick of it! I’m sick and fucking tired of the disrespect to black women within hip-hop! I’m especially pissed at the way video models and strippers are portrayed! This ain’t no diatribe about sexual exploitation of women either!

Most recently, video and magazine model Buffie The Body was accosted by some dumb fuck radio shock jock. This radio “jerk” went on to insult Buffie, questioning her, berating her, asking about her age, butt injections, stripping, being a role model, and how her line of work is being a role model to the youth. It was a verbal assault out of left field, which caused a stunned Buffie to get “very black” on his ass! This South Cacka-lacka radio host asked Buffie her age (43) and retorted, “It looks it! I’m not even gonna sit here and tell you no lie.” It was all downhill from there. This mean-spirited mofo ended his harassment/hating of her with these parting words, “Don’t let the door hit ya, where the injection shots made you thicka!” This dude was on some pure hate! (And I “hate” to use the word “hate” because it’s so fucking overused and misused!)

There is nary a music video out that doesn’t have one of our very bodacious sistas strutting her stuff, which allows these rappers to sell their music. (If their music sucks, we might as well be ocularly entertained, right? Is that a word? “Ocularly.” Charge it to my Ebonics!) But then we wanna label them “video hoes”—while we’re eye-fucking them! We are voyeurs of their work, yet we criticize their profession! Y’all already know I’m Ya gay friend’s favorite straight friend, but these straight cats are some of the gayest dudes (including this radio jock!) (Yes homo!) Negroes are actually mad and repulsed at the female anatomy!

I’m an equal-opportunity sexual liberator! I’m not just for gays in hip-hop and I don’t subscribe to the whole “women exploitation” argument. Hell, we’re all exploited in one way or another! These are grown-ass women who choose (some out of necessity and some because they love it!) to expose their bodies for our consumption! It is art! We certainly don’t view male strippers as exploited! (Having been a male stripper myself, it was the most liberating feeling to shake my tallywacker in the faces of adoring women!… and get paid!)

Women, whether they be models, strippers, exotic dancers, video/magazine eye-candy, porn stars or whatever—they deserve respect—the same respect that male dancers like “Chippendales” or Las Vegas’ (by way of Australia) “Thunder From Down Under” gets! Kill the double-standard!

Women, like gays and lesbians are easy targets of hip-hop disrespect. A prime example is non-entity blogger Juan, who writes this of Buffie:

…despite her extremely offensive face. …addition to here (sic) extremely annoying country disposition, Buffy is some ghetto trash that has an shockingly skewed perception of her worth in this world. Apparently someone has convinced her that she’s somehow a role model to young women and is in someway gifted. How can you be gifted if your wrinkly ass, albeit fantastic is the bi product of modern cosmetic medicine.

First off, Juan, your writing skills are ass! Her name is Buffie, not Buffy. Secondly, it’s “some way” not “someway,” thirdly, it’s “a shockingly,” not “an shockingly,” fourthly, it’s “her,” not “here,” and fifthly, when you ask a question, you end the sentence with a question mark (?). (Hip-hop blogging isn’t a pass to be grammatically ignorant! Ebonics and slang have their place.)

Having exposed your grammatical ineptness—here’s a woman who’s been on the cover of King, Black Men, Smooth, Hush, and Sweets magazines and been featured in XXL, Vibe, and The Source magazines, done videos with the likes of Tony Yayo and movies with T.I. (ATL) and has been photographed with rapper 50 Cent and many, many celebs! And you have the nerve to write “despite her extremely offensive face?” So she’s ugly Juan? Buffie is a beautiful sista with a beautiful ass! Maybe she’s ugly on the bottom of her feet, but she’s a classic African beauty. (I might be old, for a hip-hop head, but I still know beauty goddamnit!)

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Beauty is subjective!

“Skewed perception?” Shouldn’t we all think highly of ourselves? The ass on Buffie brings “happyness” and joy to men (and women) all around the world! Her ass spans the globe like The Wide World of Sports! God only knows how many men have shot their wad looking at layouts of Buffie The Body! Whoever (Ice Cube?) rapped, “Never trust a big butt and a smile” must’ve been having visions of the Paris Hilton ilk!

It looks to me like Buffie The Body is making full use of her ass-sets! There are big badonkadonks in every ‘hood. How many are really cashing in on their gift from God? Old-boy on the radio asked her, “Why not Buffie the Brain?” It takes BRAINS to market your junk-in-the-trunk on the scale that she’s doing it! Everybody ain’t gonna be smart in the book way!

“Buffy is some ghetto trash”—Blogger Juan. “Ghetto Trash?” Listen Juan. This is hip-hop we’re talking about! ‘Hood stories! Rags to riches! Folk, who had nothing, took nothing and made something of their circumstance! (Think chit’lins!) I don’t know what rock you crawled out from under, but most of these rappers, record label execs, and A&R’s came from “ghetto trash!” 50 Cent was “ghetto trash!” Outkast was “ghetto trash!” LL Cool J was “ghetto trash!” Ice Cube was “ghetto trash!” Will Smith was “ghetto trash!” Should I continue? What’s your point? Go back as far as you can musically and see the poor environments that folk like James Brown and them came from! We all we’re “ghetto trash” at one point, but sometimes out of a concrete jungle springs a rose! Hell, hip-hop music was “ghetto trash” when it first hit the airwaves according to many! Buffie The Body is that “ride or die” chick—that “around the way girl!”

Negroes like Juan (I suspect he’s Puerto Rican or some other island nationality), this shock jock, and Byron Crawford of XXL are pseudo-black men—hip-hop interlopers that love white women to the exclusion of chocolate hued, big butt, full-lipped black women.

Buffie’s ass… CoCo’s ass (Ice T’s wife) tough choice!

The “whore paradigm” is an old one—used to keep women as second-class citizens in a patriarchal system. The “ho paradigm” was created to downplay the roles/achievements of women throughout history! And so it is with hip-hop! All of our “hos in different area codes” are the product of centuries of women who are seen as such.

Why is the video model/stripper/porn star viewed as “ho,” yet the great sculptures/paintings of (naked white) antiquity are viewed as “art?” I’m just sayin’…

If hip-hop is the “savior”—the “Jesus” of young, urban America, then Buffie The Body is hip-hop’s Mary Magdalene—a symbol of black sexual womanhood, which the early church eschewed because of her obviously “close” relationship to the Divine (Jesus)—a scorned woman who has erroneously been labeled a “ho” by sexist men within the Roman Catholic Church—a woman which some scholars believe may have been the wife of Jesus—a woman whom the “Gnostics” called “the woman who knew the all”—a woman whom was called the “Companion of the Savior” who *Jesus loved more than any other woman and used to kiss often on the mouth—a woman who was as close to Jesus as any disciple, yet Christian history has relegated her to “whore status.” (*See the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Peter, and the Gospel of Mary, texts omitted from your Bible. Religious scholars agree that the characterization of Mary Magdalene as a reformed prostitute has no biblical foundation and probably came about as the result of the city she was from—el Mejdel, a city infamous for its licentious behavior. Go further research that shyt and slap the next preacher who teaches otherwise!)

Mary Magdalene was not a prostitute (as many of our dumb-dog preachers have taught)! The Mary Magdalene of history was a woman who came into the Jesus Movement, who was healed of “seven devils,” a sign of some psychological pathology, not a symptom of being a prostitute. (Luke 8:2).

Male-dominated, paternalistic Christianity has much maligned Mary Magdalene and male-dominated, paternalistic hip-hop has much maligned Buffie The Body! Buffie The Body is all women! Buffie The Body, like Mary Magdalene, has been characterized and scandalized as a whore, because she once did the booty clap in strip clubs. She is being disrespected by the same men (and radio jocks) that would take her picture into the john and jack off! Hip-hop (Jesus) loves her, but the some of the disciples (followers of hip-hop) hate her. Well I’ve got news for all haters of strippers and prostitutes and it’s brought to you by your man Jesus who says, “Verily [truly] I say unto you, that the publicans [gang bangers] and harlots [prostitutes/hoes] go into the kingdom of God before you!” (Matthew 21:31)

You ask, “Why would Jesus say a whore will go to Heaven?” Because he, himself, sprang from the four forms of the whore (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba, all of which had “something questionable or even scandalous about the activities of each of these women”) and ended with his mother Mary, the “Pre-Monogamic Whore,” according the noted mythologist Gerald Massey. This is his bloodline!

We say “No homo.” We say we’re straight! We say we love pussy, yet we’ve got our noses in the air at the stripper and the video model! We have a love-hate fixation with black ass! Tupac used to rap, “Every other video… I see the same ho….,” thus, the phrase “video ho” enters the annals of hip-hop lingo. Why does she gotta be a “ho?”

We, heterosexual men, love Buffie The Body’s ass! In the words of the late great comedian Rodney Dangerfield, “I think I’m an ‘ass man.’ Everywhere I go, people say, ‘You’re an ass, man!”

Hottentot Venus

Women in general and black women in particular have had their asses on display from time immemorial! One of the most known asses was the famed Hottentot Venus, an African woman named Sara Baartman, who was taken from the Cape of Good Hope to London in 1810. Her ass was so big that it was frightening! White folks used to pay to see her naked black ass! Now this was some exploitation fo’ yo’ ass!

“Venus” refers to “Goddess.” White men used to (and still) venerate (worship) the Hottentot! Black and Latino women are among the most curvaceous women on earth! If men are truthful—most of what we do in life is for the sake of a woman—to impress a woman with the end result of gettin’ the skins! Women are our motivation to rap, go to work, drive a nice car, wear nice clothes and brush our teeth! Without women, we’d be a bunch of nasty-ass halitosis-having, no deodorant-wearing dreadlocked idiots!

As much as we might hate on the “Buffie The Bodies” of the world, we need them! If for nothing more than to make ourselves feel better about whom we are not. Like Toni Morrison’s character Sula, the “perceived” town whore, we need Buffie The Body so that our lives have greater meaning!
